Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our care home assessment service
About Our Service
What is RightCareHome and how does it work?
RightCareHome is an independent care home assessment service that helps families find the right care home for their loved ones. We analyse official regulatory data, care home features, and your specific requirements to provide personalised recommendations. Our service is funded by families, not care homes.
Is RightCareHome affiliated with any care homes?
No. RightCareHome is completely independent and not affiliated with any care home providers. We are funded by families, not care homes, which means our recommendations are based solely on quality, suitability, and your specific needs.
How is RightCareHome different from other care home finders?
Unlike directories that simply list care homes or services funded by the homes they recommend, RightCareHome provides truly independent assessments. We use data-driven analysis of official inspection ratings, care home features, and your unique requirements to generate unbiased recommendations. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision, not to steer you towards homes that can pay for visibility.
Care Home Assessments
What information do I need to complete an assessment?
To complete an assessment, you'll need basic information about the person requiring care, including their location preferences, type of care needed (residential, nursing, dementia, etc.), mobility and medical requirements, budget considerations, and any specific preferences such as room type or amenities. The more details you provide, the more tailored your recommendations will be.
How accurate are the CQC ratings you display?
We source inspection ratings directly from the official regulator and update our database regularly. However, ratings are point-in-time assessments, and a care home's quality can change between inspections. We always recommend visiting shortlisted homes in person and checking the latest inspection report.
Can I compare multiple care homes side by side?
Yes! Our platform allows you to shortlist care homes and compare them side by side. You can compare CQC ratings, available services, fees (where provided), location, and other features to help you make an informed decision.
Pricing & Payments
Is the Free Shortlist really free?
Yes, completely free with no obligation. You receive three matched care homes, a basic funding check, and a local area analysis — all within 10 minutes. If you later decide you want the full analysis, you can move into the Care Home Matching Report, Care Home Check, or Care Home Funding Report. Each is a one-off payment with no ongoing commitment.
Are your reports a one-off purchase or a subscription?
All our reports are one-off purchases — you pay once and receive your report. There is no subscription, no recurring charges, and no auto-renewal. Care Home Matching Report access lasts 365 days. All paid reports include a 30-day refund window if they do not help.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure payment processor, Stripe. All transactions are encrypted and we never store your complete card details on our servers.
Do you offer discounts for families in financial hardship?
We understand that finding care can be financially challenging. Please contact our support team if you're experiencing financial hardship — we'll do our best to help on a case-by-case basis.
Care Funding
Does RightCareHome help with care funding?
While RightCareHome focuses on helping you find the right care home, we provide information about different funding options including NHS Continuing Healthcare, local authority funding, and self-funding. We recommend speaking with your local authority's adult social services team for a formal needs and financial assessment.
What is NHS Continuing Healthcare?
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a package of care arranged and funded solely by the NHS for individuals with significant ongoing healthcare needs. Eligibility is determined through a formal assessment. If you believe you or your loved one may be eligible, contact your GP or local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for an assessment.
